Got a double-dose of Chan-Wook Park news for you today, which is never a bad thing. This time he’s not the main focus of the story though; Bong Joon-Ho is. If the name is unfamiliar, the work probably isn’t. Bong is the man behind the genre flicks MEMORIES OF MURDER and THE HOST, as well as the upcoming MOTHER, which is getting rave reviews on the festival circuit. Collider caught up with the director at the Toronto Film Festival and spoke with him about his next film, which is an adaptation of the French graphic novel LE TRANSPERCENEIGE (English translation: SNOW PIERCER).
The story takes place aboard the titular train as it travels around in an endless circle, filled with the remnants of humanity after a devastating war. There are separate sections for the separate classes, and obviously all is not harmonious within. It’s like CHILDREN OF MEN on a train!
Chan-Wook Park is a producer on the film, which is in pre-production now. Watch the interview with Bong Joon-ho below!
