Boogie helmer’s Cell

Remember the 2005 sub-par spook tale BOOGEYMAN (see The Arrow’s review here)? If not, don’t feel bad. In fact, you should probably feel pretty glad. Anyway, the “Boogs” couldn’t have been that bad, because its director, Stephen Kay (right), has just scored himself a new gig at the helm of the upcoming thriller CELL 213. The plot for this one opens like this:

When criminal defense attorney JONATHAN PARKS is framed for killing one of his incarcerated clients, he is imprisoned at Dodgeville State Penitentiary and thrown into the isolated Cell 213, reserved for those guilty but compelling few whose souls are up for grabs by both God and Satan.

As long as he doesn’t have to battle the Boogeyman inside the cell, this may be a fun ride. It sort of sounds like SESSION 9 meets 1408. Hopefully Kay already learned what not to do in a horror movie. As for now, there is no announced cast, but shooting is set to begin this August in Southern Ontario. CELL 213 comes to us from a script by Maninder Chana.

BOOGEYMAN’s lovely Emily Deschanel.
