With the reaction to the first 28 WEEKS LATER trailer being mixed, Fox Atomic may have panicked and told a slight fib. (Oh, a studio lying to the public, Never!!!) Apparently they’ve been telling CinemaBlend that Danny Boyle, director of 28 DAYS LATER, was the assistant director on the upcoming 28 WEEKS LATER, which is a bunch of crap.
Boyle himself has cleared the air about the subject, as he was on the BBC and stated he did not have any part in the making the film, nor did he do anything that could possibly warrant an “Assistant Director” title. He even joked about being executive producer: “which means you don’t really do anything at all.”
I wonder if this is a sign of Fox Atomic protecting their product’s commercial value, which is a bad sign for fans because anytime a studio does something this drastic is if the product sucks. Here’s to hoping 28 WEEKS LATER doesn’t suck.
