Brad Allan, prolific stuntman, has passed away at 48

Bradley James Allan, the legendary Australian stuntman, stunt coordinator, actor, and esteemed member of Jackie Chan's team, has passed away at 48. His most recent work included being a supervising stunt coordinator and second unit director on Marvel's Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, a martial arts spectacle that is sure to highlight Allan's talent for creating unforgettable action. Chan himself announced Allan's passing on his website by way of a heartfelt address. Details related to Allan's death remain scarce at this time.

Allan's iconic work can be seen in many films throughout the action and adventure genre, including movies like Solo: A Star Wars Story and Wonder Woman to The Chronicles of Riddick, Gorgeous, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Rush Hour 2, Ninja Assassin, Avatar, Kick-Ass, Pacific Rim, and more. He also contributed to all three Kingsmen movies, including a supervising stunt coordinator role on The King's Man.

Allan's first project involved partnering with Chan for 1997's Mr. Nice Guy. The two martial arts masters became thick as thieves shortly thereafter. In fact, it wasn't long before Allan became the first non-Asian member of Chan's JC Stunt Team. Allan could hold his own too. If you want proof, just listen to some of the stories behind 1999's Gorgeous. Allan won the first of two fights against Chan for that film. This was a rare sight to see, especially when you consider that Allan was a Westerner.

“Many years ago while I was filming Mr. Nice Guy, he was just a fan and I remember him coming to visit the set,” Chan wrote Saturday. “At that time, he was crazy about Chinese Kung Fu and had practiced it for many years. It was because of his amazing skills and talent, he transformed from being a fan to a stuntman, and eventually joined my JC Stunt Team. He even fought with me in Gorgeous, and I think a lot of people remember this skillful boxer in the movie. He has also contributed to many of my movies.”

Filmmaker Edgar Wright also offered his condolences via Twitter. He and Allan had worked together on 2010's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
