Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling look fantastic in the trailer for The Place Beyond the Pines

JoBloJoBlo

The first trailer for THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES has finally landed. With all of the festivals it played at, it feels like this movie came out a long time ago. But, here we have our first long look at Derek Cianfrance‘s follow up to the brutal BLUE VALENTINE.

Plot: The film powerfully explores the consequences of motorcycle rider Luke (Ryan Gosling)’s fateful decision to commit a crime to support his child. The incident renders him targeted by policeman Avery (Bradley Cooper), and the two men become locked on a tense collision course which will have a devastating impact on both of their families in the years following.

Gosling looks different with the bleached blonde hair and the tattoos, but his performance is just as powerful as what we have seen in BLUE VALENTINE and DRIVE. A lot of people may think this looks like DRIVE with motorcycles, but it is much more complex than that. Bradley Cooper is a pleasant surprise with each new picture. The guy I was ready to write off as another hunk with mediocre acting talents is certainly proving to be a damn fine thespian.

THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES also stars Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta, and Dane DeHaan. It opens in theaters on March 29, 2013.
