Bradley Cooper to play Lucifer in 3D adaptation of John Milton’s Paradise Lost?

John Milton’s PARADISE LOST turned into a 3D movie? Lord help us all…

Variety is reporting that Bradley Cooper, actor de jure, is in line to play Lucifer in a battle against Michael and a grip of archangels in a screen adaptation, possibly in 3D, of PARADISE LOST. Alex Proyas (DARK CITY, THE CROW) is directing, with Legendary Pictures producing.

From the 17th century Milton poem, PARADISE LOST tells the story of the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, including the latter’s role in Adam and Eve’s fall from grace.

No deal has been officially offered at this time, but it seems Cooper is keen on playing the role of Mephistopheles. Ironically, Cooper is up to star in THE CROW reboot, the original of which was helmed by, you guessed it, Alex Proyas.

With nary a production start date, the script for PARADISE LOST was adapted by Byron Willinger and Philip De Blasi, and since retooled by Lawrence Kasdan, then Ryan Condal. Wonder how all that change of hands will turn out when all is said and done.

Cooper last lit up screens in LIMITLESS, and has THE HANGOVER PART II due later this month. That said, you think the dude has what it takes to believably portray Lucifer in PARADISE LOST?

Jaime Chung also stars in THE HANGOVER PART II!
