When news broke that Jeff Bridges would be starring in the upcoming IRON MAN adaptation, after collectively giving director Jon Favreau a virtual high-five for assembling such an impressive cast – Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts – everyone started racking their brains trying to figure out who he’d be playing. Making things especially frustrating was a cryptic description of Bridges’ character that went something like “a confidant and close business associate …who plays a major role in shaping Stark’s life.” Well, rack those brains no more, fanschmoes, because a slimmed-down, shaved-head, silver-goateed Bridges recently revealed that he’d be playing none other than Obadiah Stane. In the comics, Stane was a notorious villain of Iron Man’s but when asked about this, Bridges only said that we’d have to “wait and see”, which in Hollywood question-dodging parlance means “yes”.
