It's been announced that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will launch its final season after the Summer Olympics in the "desired" post-games slot. “It will launch in August, coming out of the Summer Olympics, which is a coveted slot," said Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming. "We can think of nothing more deserving than giving it to the final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This is a beloved show and we wanted to give it a slot where it had access to the biggest possible audience.”
“We’re still working out the details but it’s safe to assume some of the episodes will be double run,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming. This being the case, NBC admits that they'll reschedule the premiere if the Tokyo Games are canceled due to the pandemic.
Originally, the rewatchable AF (as Frasier) police comedy ran for five seasons on Fox before it was canceled but then rescued by NBC for a sixth season. Season seven then arrived to rave reviews when it aired in spring 2020. Production on the eighth season is already underway, with cast members frequently posting videos and pics from behind-the-scenes along the way.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which revolves around a group of hapless yet kindhearted cops patrolling the streets of Brooklyn, New York stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller.
