This news is bizarre for a couple reasons: a) because Brooks is doing a serious horror film; b) because the serious horror film in question is called PIZZAMAN; and c) because… actually, that’s about it. How will anyone be able to take a horror movie called PIZZAMAN seriously? It already sounds freakin’ hilarious, and that’s just the title!
The old saying ‘you learn something new everyday’ reared its head on me today, as I learned that Brooksfilms was behind one of the best gross-out horror films of all time: David Cronenberg’s THE FLY! Of course, they also produced THE FLY II, but that’s besides the point. I never knew Mel Brooks helped produce THE FLY… and now that I’ve learned something new, I think I’ll go back to bed now.
No details on PIZZAMAN has been revealed yet, but I can’t shake the image of another pizza character from a previous Brooks film. That’s right, I’m talkin’ ‘Pizza the Hut’ from SPACEBALLS! Could the PIZZAMAN actually be a man made out of pizza, or a pizza delivery man out on a killing spree? Oh the questions, the questions…
