Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney have a father-son shootout in this clip from A Good Day To Die Hard

Bruce Willis is bringing up the rear in the one-two-three punch of our ’80’s action-star revival, which began with Schwarzenegger’s THE LAST STAND, continues with Stallone’s BULLET TO THE HEAD on Friday, and culminates with A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD on the most romantic day of the year.  Can Willis outshine his compatriots?  The one thing he’s got going for him that the others don’t is a brand name in the DIE HARD franchise, which will likely draw in big bucks on the name alone.  Although most of us die-hard, uh, DIE HARD fans have noticed, the charm of the first three films has twindled, especially after the last fun-but-not-die-hard sequel LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD.

In this clip, we have John McClane (Willis) and Jack McClane (Courtney) squaring off with some Russian bad guys and getting themselves into a good ol’ fashioned shoot out.  In an apparent homage to the first film, they use glass to “make it rain” on the Russkie villains with some father-son bonding to boot.  I don’t know, out of context it’s hard to call.  It’s a given that I’m going to see this.  I’m a sucker for DIE HARD and that’s just the way it is.  If it starred Eddie Murphy as the villain and took place in a toy store I’d still show up, like a shameful crack addict to a crack house.

Shoot the glass!:

I’m really hoping the R-rating equals more than a few CGI blood spatters, which I am so sick of seeing.  I’d rather see no blood if that’s the case, because it’s just as unrealistic.  I mean, really, have none of these guys seen a Paul Verhoeven flick?  Earn that R, damn it!  Okay, I’m calm.  We’re good.  Maybe.

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD may or may not make up for the last entry on February 14, 2013.
