Bruce Willis’ wife: He wants me to live my best life

The news that Bruce Willis’ health was in serious jeopardy and career would be cut short due to a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia was devastating to fans all over. Now, his wife, Emma Heming Willis, has shared some thoughts on not just coping with a loved one going through such a condition but that she believes Bruce would want her to enjoy any time she can.

In an Instagram post from this week, Emma Heming Willis said, “I just think it’s so important for us to sort of break up our thinking, which can feel, for me, very much like doom and gloom…I know it looks like I’m out living my best life. I have to make a conscious effort every single day to live the best life that I can…[for] Bruce, who would not want me to live any other way.” Still, while an advocate for self-care, she took more time to reaffirm to her followers that she is far from her best days. “I don’t want it to be misconstrued that I’m good, because I’m not. I’m not good, but I have to put my best foot forward for the sake of myself and my family.” She added to her message, “I don’t have this down to a fine-science either, but I try. It’s an affirmation I use daily so it’s kept in the forefront of my mind…I ask that you’ll consider to keep looking for that one beautiful thing or moment in your day…”

Support for Bruce Willis has come from just about every side you could think of, from family to co-stars to fans, with daughter Rumer offering words of love on Father’s Day, Arnold Schwarzenegger praising his star power and our very own team paying tribute to one of our favorite actors.

While the news of Bruce Willis’ condition continues to be difficult for many to wrap their heads around, it is comforting to see that so much positivity and some genuine life lessons can come from it. And if that isn’t worth saying “Yippee Ki-Yay” for, then what is?
