Bryan Singer says Noah Hawley’s Legion will relate to future X-Men films

Around this time last month we saw the first trailer for the X-Men spinoff show, Legion, which premiered at SDCC. If you're not familiar with it, the story follows David Haller (AKA Legion) who is a haunted man with power beyond comprehension. Plagued by numerous split personalities, each commanding a different aspect of his power, David is trying to find his way back to sanity but he's getting tired and is about to give up until he meets the girl of his dreams. Written and directed by Noah Hawley (of Fargo fame) and starring Dan Stevens, the TV series looks like a home run right off the bat. If things go as planned, it looks like it will also tie in with future X-Men movies! Bryan Singer had the following tidbit to say at the Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Bryan Singer on Legion:

What we are doing with Legion and the other X-Men television project will relate to future X-Men movies – whether it is DEADPOOL or X-MEN sequels, and past ones.

Now, that doesn't say a whole lot, but it may be a clue as far as the future of this universe. For those of you who have seen the Fargo TV series, you know that Noah Hawley is a serious force to be reckoned with. X-MEN: APOCALYPSE didn't exactly steer the franchise in an exciting direction, so it's possible that Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg are looking for some fresh talent to explore different facets of the X-universe. That means Tim Miller with DEADPOOL 2, Josh Boone with NEW MUTANTS and Noah Hawley with Legion. How it'll all come together is anyone's guess!

Legion will hit FX sometime in 2017.
