I’m frankly surprised that Bruce Campbell is having trouble making up his mind on whether or not he wants to put on the shades again for BUBBA HO-TEP 2 – or BUBBA NOSFERATU: CURSE OF THE SHE-VAMPIRES. I mean, I realize the guy’s got a successful new show on USA now, but c’mon, BUBBA HO-TEP gave him a brand new iconic character to sink his teeth into.
The news is especially surprising when you consider a talent like Paul Giamatti is on board and ready to go. Granted, Giamatti isn’t exactly Russell Crowe in the star-power department, but he’s a guy who does a lot of flicks and has name-recognition now. Let’s team these two up already!
Well, Giamatti isn’t the one holding out. He told SlashFilm that he’s all set to play Colonel Parker opposite Bruce’s Elvis – “Bruce Campbell was waffling around about whether he wants to play Elvis or not again. So that’s the problem. You gotta have Elvis and you really want him playing Elvis, so hopefully we can get him to do it. If not, I’m sure they will try and find somebody else but I think it’s contingent on whether he’ll do it or not. It’s a great script, a completely insane script. I would love to do that because I love [Bubba Ho-Tep]. It’s a great movie.”
Let’s be real – no one else is playing Elvis in that damn movie. It’s the Chin or no one at all. So Bruce, have fun doin’ BURN NOTICE, but then get back on the damn ball!
