Hopefully that headline wasn’t deceiving…
The truth is, producer Peter Safran (the Ryan Reynolds thriller BURIED) is prepping a horror flick titled GIRLS; according to Variety, it brings a fresh twist to a conventional thriller in telling the story of a slumber party gone wrong after four teenage girls are terrorized by a pair of kidnappers.
Safran has set Kyle Patrick Alvarez (EASIER WITH PRACTICE) to direct from a screenplay written by Alvarez and Adam Shazar.
The concept is intriguing, as is the notion of a fresh twist. (And who doesn’t love a good slumber party?) I wonder, though, if we should be slightly worried. Among Peter Safran’s credits are those dastardly spoof movies that we all loathe: MEET THE SPARTANS, DISASTER MOVIE, VAMPIRES SUCK, etc. He’s also got MY BABY’S DADDY and ROCKETMAN on his resume. Hoooo boy…
United Talent Agency is repping worldwide rights to the project. Safran will finance through his Safran Co. banner.
