With THE LAST AIRBENDER due next week, M. Night Shyamalan sure is keeping his name in the trades!
Not only was it recently announced that Bruce Willis, Bradley Cooper and Gwenyth Paltrow are in early negotiations to star in M. Night’s clandestine new feature, according to Deadline, Shyamalan has found a scribe to ink the script to a flick he’ll produce entitled TWELVE STRANGERS. Scope it…
Word is BURIED writer Chris Sparling (ATM) has been hired to pen the script, which is said to be a thriller that involves a jury deliberating a case involving the supernatural. TWELVE STRANGERS marks the second film to be made under Shyamalan’s production eave Night Chronicles, the first being John Dowdle’s DEVIL (which hits screens Feb. 2011).
No word yet on who will direct TWELVE STRANGERS, but it’ll most likely be another up-and-comer hand picked by Shamalamadingdong.
So how does this sit with you guys and dolls? You a fan of Shyamalan in general? You think he’s a better producer than director, thereby making TWELVE STRANGERS worthwhile? And what about Sparling? Does a one-trick pony of a script in BURIED qualify the man to get a shot with the big boys?
