You know how they say never judge a book by its cover? Well, normally I don’t judge a flick by its title (save for insipid fare like HOPE FLOATS or as thoroughly indolent as this year’s FIGHTING). But for this next flick I’m tossing the rule-book out the damn window, because few headings offer more personal excitement than Timothy Whitfield’s tantalizingly titled BURLESQUE MASSACRE.
With an equally rad tagline of: Dance. Strip. Die. – Whitfield’s 3rd feature effort focuses on a sick and twisted Burlesque dancer who lures a group of fellow female performers to her brother’s home for more than just a party.
In addition, the flick is said to be a retro slasher film shot in the 1970s 16mm drive in look, mixing genre styles from the classic ‘70s and ‘80s slashers with the torture style horror of today, as well as sprinkling in some dark comedy. It is outrageous, over the top and needs to be seen to be believed.
Starring is Crystal Swarovski, Olivia Bellafontaine, Polly Peabody, Stephanie Paris (below), Olivia Dae, Kennedy Winters, Cadence St. John, Erin Taylor, and Jake Bradbury. Whitfield co-writes with first timer Tracy Cwick.
Currently sifting through distribution offers, Whitfield and company are planning a few LA screenings. More on that when we lock it!
