Burton’s Corpse Pic

Freeze Dried Movies has posted the first pic from Tim Burton’s upcoming animated flick THE CORPSE BRIDE. It’s got the nice dark atmospheric feel that was so brilliantly used in THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. The tale features voice work from Burton regulars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in an old fairytale set in 19th-century Europe, with a married man trekking to the underworld for a quickie wedding to a mysterious corpse bride. Well, they do say that variety is the spice of life.

While it’s disappointing to me that Burton hasn’t yet tried his hand at a true horror film, I love the fact that his dark sensibilities lend an air of horror to every project. Even his lighter stuff has more tension then a lot of the strict genre work I see. Looks like this could be another dark, nasty treat from this delightfully twisted director.
