Well here’s sort of a good news/good news situation. A sequel to THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT is in the works, and it seems that it will probably offer a second chance at enjoying the intruguing concept for those who didn’t boogie to the first flick’s vibe. Why? Well those who didn’t like the first one seemed to fall into two camps. Those who hated the story, and those who hated Ashton Kutcher.
Well Kutcher won’t be returning, though sadly neither will Amy Smart, and while the logline is almost the same right now, at least it’s another shot at tweaking the original concept. Plus New Line must be pretty hot on this since Variety reports it’s been fast-tracked to start shooting in the fall.
For now we’ll wish them luck and fight the instinct to raise our collective eyebrows at the choice of MORTAL COMBAT: ANNIHILATION director John Leonetti as helmer.
