Cage on for Ghost 2?

GHOST RIDER had the opportunity to be one of the coolest comic book movie adaptations ever made… except director Mark Steven Johnson decided to helm the project, and it all went downhill from there. Not that Johnson’s heart isn’t in the right place — the guy loves comic books — he’s just not best at bringing them to the big screen…

While GHOST RIDER wasn’t what fans had hoped for in the quality department, the suits were happy cause it made a f*ckload of money at the box office, which screams sequel to those looking for the next big franchise. So a GHOST RIDER 2 sounds pretty stinking obvious, right?

Nicolas Cage told SuperHeroHype his thoughts on GHOST RIDER 2, and they went a little something-something like this: All they have to do is call, and I would love to see that happen. That would be fun.

Damn right it’d be fun — if it went in another direction completely, with another director at the helm, and maybe even a new writer or two. But will it happen? With the WGA srike still going strong, I would think not for a long time, but you never know… maybe there’s a GH2 script in the vaults at Sony just waiting to be made…
