Filmic gear-head, Nicolas Cage (GHOST RIDER, GONE IN 60 SECONDS) looks to be headed for the open road yet again in another engine-revving, genre-centric flick. This new one’s called DRIVE ANGRY and it is being ushered to the big screen by the MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D writer/director team of Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier. And get this, the plot seems to scream of the bloody revenge genre! Take a look:
The story centers on a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.
Is this a “natural Cage” role of what?! And since it’s coming from Lussier and Farmer, I believe it’s a pretty safe bet to say that the carnage will be driven to the extreme! Plus, the flick is also set to go 3D! With the recent success of THE FINAL DESTINATION, it appears that all new genre efforts shot in the third dimension are a good way of securing a hit. I’ll keep my eyes out for more on DRIVE as it travels down the turnpike.
