Cameron and Miller set their sights on a Summer 2019 release for Terminator

Every time I gear up to write a story pertaining to THE TERMINATOR franchise, the theme song for TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY starts playing in my head. In my mind's eye, I can see the glowing red eyes and smoldering chrome of the T-800 Model 101 Terminator, as it walks effortlessly through a wall of fire. It's not very often that a film can stand the test of time in my memory so vividly, though in the case of James Cameron's THE TERMINATOR, I can't help but shiver at the thought of Judgement Day becoming a reality.

Today, Paramount announced that the new James Cameron-produced and Tim Miller-directed TERMINATOR film will be unleashed upon the world on July 26, 2019!

While the franchise hasn't wowed theatergoers in quite the number of years, the prospect of Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton all returning to the long-running sci-fi series has re-invigorated the hopes of many who yearn for a doomsday filled with killer robots and sentient technology.

The film has no official title at this time, though a writers room has been assembled with James Cameron, David Goyer, Charles Eglee, Josh Friedman, Justin Rhodes and producer David Eillison each playing a part in penning the sequel. In what is surely an ambitious claim, Cameron's plan is for both Schwarzenegger and Hamilton to be involved in the making of the next three films.

Whoa, hold up! Linda Hamilton has agreed to contribute to all three of the planned films? Why yes, indeed, and you can read all about it right here. I especially love the part where Cameron insists that Hamilton is the secret to the franchise's success. After all, having her back on board is a major boon for TERMINATOR seires, and I have to admit that after long last, I'm feeling a bit of excitement for this property, once again.

James Cameron and Tim Miller's TERMINATOR will "dun dun dun dun dunnn" into theaters on July 26, 2019.
