Can Tivo be used to predict box-office receipts and is this trouble for Three Musketeers?

I have a DVR at home and I’m an equal-opportunity fast-forwarder. I just fast-forward through every commercial. But apparently there are some people out there who stop and watch some commercials. TiVo actually tracks this data and crunches it into a report. And what they’ve found recently could mean success (or failure) for certain movies.

In a recent report, TiVo is reporting that approximately 20% of viewers are fast-forwarding through commercials for THE THREE MUSKETEERS. That doesn’t seem so bad though, right? Well in comparison, only about 11% fast-forwarded through PUSS IN BOOTS and only 13% through FOOTLOOSE.

The most fast-forwarded commercial of the month was for DRIVE, which may explain its poor performance and also why morons think the movie looks like FAST AND FURIOUS.
