Candy Cane Lane: Tracee Ellis Ross to star alongside Eddie Murphy for Prime Video’s holiday comedy

Prime Video‘s Candy Cane Lane cast is getting sweeter after adding Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ishThe Hair TalesThe High Note) to the holiday comedy starring Eddie Murphy. Reginald Hudlin (House PartyMarshall) directs from a script by Kelly Younger (Muppets Haunted MansionMuppets Now). The Candy Cane Lane plot remains a mystery. Still, the film is currently in production in Los Angeles. According to reports, Younger based the idea on his childhood holiday experiences.

Candy Cane Lane is the first of three movies under Murphy’s three-picture deal with Amazon Studios. In addition to starring in the holiday comedy, Murphy will produce alongside Charisse Hewitt-Webster for Eddie Murphey Productions, with Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder through Imagine Entertainment.

As a person of many talents, Ross is an actor, producer, director, musician, and writer. Famous for playing Johnson family matriarch Rainbow on ABC’s Black-ish, Ross also stars as Rachel in the TV movie Bad Girls, as Grace Davis in Nisha Ganatra’s The High Note, and plays Joan Clayton in the TV series Girlfriends. She also stars in Roxine Helberg’s upcoming thriller Cold Copy. The film, written and directed by Helberg, follows a young broadcast journalism student and her mentor as they deal with the meaning of success and truth. Bel Powley, Jacob Tremblay, Nesta Cooper, Ekaterina Baker, James Tupper, Adam Beauchesne, and Requell Jodeah also star.

As for Murphy, the legendary actor and comedian recently wrapped filming for Beverly Hills Cop 4. The plot for the long-gestating sequel is unknown. Still, we know Mark Molloy (Apple at Work – The UnderdogsNissan – Shoulders of Giants) is directing from a script by Josh Applebaum, Will Beall, and André Nemec. The upcoming action film stars an ensemble of notable actors, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kevin Bacon, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Taylour Paige, with Judge Reinhold and John Ashton returning as Billy Rosewood and John Taggart, respectively.
