Spain’s Manuel Martin Cuenca, director of upcoming Toronto World Cinema player La mitad de Oscar, has lined up his next project – a psychological thriller called CANIBAL.

Cuenca had this to say about the character (via Variety): “This is not a Hannibal Lecter. He knows what he does is wrong. But he just can’t stop.” Sorry Manuel, but I’m still going to put a pic of cinema’s most famous human-nosher.
The film is being written in the vein of FUNNY GAMES, which sounds A-OK to me. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a while for this one – it’s not scheduled to begin shooting until 2012.
