fellow Canadian Tahmoh Penikett
about the upcoming horror anthology TRICK ‘R TREAT and I absolutely love what he
had to say about the film.
TRICK ‘R TREAT, which was written and directed by Michael Dougherty,
follows four stories that are all interwoven. The
first is about a high-school principal who moonlights as an All Hallow’s serial
killer, a wife who despises the holiday and her husband’s obsession with it, a
virgin on the lookout for that special guy and a group of tweens who orchestrate
a sadistic prank.
I like the idea of a multiple
story line horror flick, but the part of the article that really caught my
attention was as follows:
“…the actor says that not only is TRICK ‘R TREAT aiming for an
adult demographic, but that the production has brought in some big guns to
realize its more horrific elements. “Bill [FREDDY VS. JASON] Terezakis and
Patrick [UNDERWORLD] Tatopoulos are doing the creatures,” Penikett reveals, with
“visual effects by Rainmaker [Animation].”
The fact that their gearing it towards an adult
audience makes my day. I personally feel a lot of films suffer because the movie
tends to aim at a teen demographic, which leads to decisions made based on the
film scoring a PG rating, which really sucks! Hopefully Dougherty will stick to
his guns and keep this baby on the adult-oriented track.
