Right. Now I don’t think any film in the near future will come close to how great SHAUN was, but I’ll definitely check the contenders out. One of those contenders would be the upcoming vampire horror-comedy SUCK. The film is about a fellow by the name of Eddie Van Helsing. Mr. Van Helsing follows his ancestorial ways and goes on a hunt for a group of vampires. Along for the ride is Helsing’s band, which consists of a bunch of rock and roll wannabies looking to become immortal while trying to score a record deal.
Why am I thinking a Tenacious D movie with vampires? Well Screen Daily have the news today that the Toronto based production company Capri Films are gearing up to start principal photography for SUCK on November 24th in Toronto. Did I mention that this flick has got a pretty stacked cast? Well it does.
Starring would be the writer/director Rob Stefaniuk. Alongside Stefaniuk will be the legendary Malcolm McDowell, the gorgeous Jessica Pare (below), and the usually hilarious Dave Foley. Not to mention the host of rock and roll stars set to join the flick, including Iggy Pop, Moby, Alice Cooper, Carol Pope, and Henry Rollins. Some of those names will actually perform in the film while others will have tracks in the movie.
So what do you think? Worth checking out? It’s sounding pretty cool so far, but I’ll wait to see some more media for this one before I tag along for the ride. Keep it here for any updates.
