Captain America does battle with Giant-Man in Civil War Concept Art

Meeting your heroes can sometimes be a nasty business, particularly when circumstances find you going mano-a-mano with them in an epic battle of fisticuffs and photon blasts. Such is the case with a piece of concept art that was shared by Korean comic book artist and illustrator Andy Park for the film CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

If you recall, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) were on the same side during the film's exciting airport battle. However, the desicion to have both heroes fighting beside one another was not yet made during the project's early days of development. In fact, there was a point at which Steve was meant to square off against Lang's Giant-Man, with the "stars and stripes forever" hero packing a mean uppercut to his over-sized compatriot's chrome-laden jaw.

You can check out the image that Park posted to his official Instagram account below:

As Park explains, an early draft of the film's script had Ant-Man fighting for Tony Stark's side of the skirmish. Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, particularly when you consider how much Lang was fan-boying all of Rogers upon meeting the legedary war hero. Then again, perhaps there was a sub-plot involving the two that was left on the cutting room floor along with anything else that was stripped from the film? Either way, we've now got this sweet image of Rogers duffing out Ant-Man to use as a smart phone wallpaper or fuel for your next Captain America and Ant-Man fan fiction project.

Currently, Park is working as a Marvel Studios concept artist for both ANT-MAN AND THE WASP (due to arrive on July 6, 2018) and CAPTAIN MARVEL (March 6, 2019).
