I’m talking now about a flick called CARRIERS, from directors Àlex and David Pastor. It looks like a good old 28 DAYS LATER-inspired shocker, with a helping of George Romero paranoia thrown in. In other words, looks pretty damn good!
Here’s the lowdown on this sucka: A deadly virus has spread across the globe. Contagion is everywhere, no one is safe and no one can be trusted. Four young attractive people race through the back roads of the American West to the pounding beat of a vacation soundtrack. Their aim is to retreat to secluded utopian beach in the Gulf of Mexico, where they could peacefully wait out the pandemic and survive the apocalyptic disease. Carriers follow their getaway through a surreal and dangerous world where laws and rules no longer apply.
CARRIERS has been sitting on the shelf for a while now, so let’s keep our hopes realistic. Maybe it’s finally getting a release because the lead is Chris Pine, aka the new Captain Kirk? Hmm. As far as conspiracy theories go, it’s a darn good one.
Also in the cast: Christopher Meloni, Piper Perabo, and Emily VanCamp. Still no solid release date is known, but expect that to change soon… (We hope.)
