Pixar’s resident visionary John Lasseter apparently announced at a recent Disney presentation that the sequel to their sentient automobiles film CARS has been pushed up from its original summer 2012 release to a release in 2011. They either have a hole in their line-up or are showing some faith in the early work from director Brad Lewis, who has previously served as a producer on ANTZ and RATATOUILLE. In the interim, Pixar will be releasing a series of animated shorts titled “Cars Toons”, the first of which is titled “Mater’s Tall Tales”, that will air on the Disney Channel or screen theatrically based on their all around coolness. Pixar’s upcoming offering, the geriatric action adventure UP, will be released May 29th.
