Case 39 gets 86’d

Aw nuts! Just when our man The Arrow announced that CASE 39 was one of 2009’s horror offerings that he was looking forward to, Paramount goes and rips the flick off its ’09 lineup. It looks like we have another genre contender to join the ranks of TRICK ‘R TREAT and the rest of the films that studios seemingly refuse to grant the light of day. Here’s the plot that you’re missing:

The story centers on an idealistic social worker who saves an abused 10-year-old girl from her parents only to discover that the girl is not as innocent as she thinks.

That’s pretty vague, but I guess at this point it doesn’t really matter. To be honest, I’ve never been a very big fan of star Renée Zellweger (can you remember the last flick she really kicked ass in? Or her last flick that made any money?). Perhaps Paramount has lost faith in their headliner. Christian Alvart (ANTIBODIES) appears to be a pretty competent horror director. Who knows what the real reason is? Will someone ever pick up on this CASE? We’ll see.
