Cast and new plot details revealed for The Wachowskis’ Netflix series Sense8

The Wachowski siblings' JUPITER ASCENDING has been pushed back until next year, but it looks like things are going well for Sense8, their upcoming sci-fi drama for Netflix. The main cast for the 10-episode series has been announced, as well as some new information on the mysterious project.

Sense8 will have a giant 14-member international cast, and Deadline is reporting the following actors have joined the series: Naveen Andrews (Lost, PLANET TERROR), Darryl Hannah (BLADE RUNNER, KILL BILL), Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who, The Carrie Diaries), Doona Bae (CLOUD ATLAS, Bong Joon-ho's THE HOST), Tuppence Middleton (JUPITER ASCENDING, Black Mirror), Aml Ameen (THE MAZE RUNNER, THE BUTLER), German actor Max Riemelt (THE WAVE, FREE FALL), Tena Desae (THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL), Terrence Mann (RED HOOK, CRITTERS), Jamie Clayton (Hung, Transform Me), Miguel Silvestri and Mexican actor Alfonso Herrera.

The Wachowski siblings created Sense8 with writer and producer J. Michael Straczynski (THOR, WORLD WAR Z, Babylon 5) and he shared a new detailed synopsis for the series with Deadline.

The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally. They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.

Deadline is also hearing Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Aml Ameen, Doona Bae, Miguel Silvestri, Tena Desae, Max Riemelt and Jamie Clayton will play the eight linked characters in Sense8, and will take place in nine different locations: Chicago, San Francisco, London, Iceland, Soul, Mumbai, Berlin, Mexico City and Nairobi. Sense8 sounds like it's a very ambitious project, and I hope the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski haven't bitten off more than they can chew with their new series.

Filming for Sense8 is set to start soon, and will be available on Netflix in either late-2014 or early-2015. The Wachowskis' JUPITER ASCENDING will be in theaters on February 6, 2015.
