Cast for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus expands: Idris Elba in the house!

Already providing more conjecture than any project we’ve seen in some time (are there f*cking Aliens in it or not?!), Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS surely hasn’t lacked for fanfare since its official announcement a couple months back. Though we can mull its plot details and extraterrestrial participants all we want for months (and we will), this article is about the cast; specifically, who is in it?

We already know that it boasts an impressive trio in the form of Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. We’ve heard Scoot McNairy might be in it, and now we’ve got a few more names to add – three Brits, to be exact.

Idris Elba (the legendary Stringer Bell in “The Wire”, Heimdall in the upcoming THOR) is the highest-profile of the bunch; the man is popping up everywhere lately (a lot of genre flicks) and deserves the work because he kicks serious, serious ass. The other two: Sean Harris and Kate Dickie. Harris was in all three films in the RED RIDING trilogy, while Dickie was last seen in the Starz original series “The Pillars of the Earth”.

Evidently all of the actors involved the were only allowed to read the Damon Lindelof-penned screenplay if they visited Ridley Scott’s production office. Scott told the Daily Mail: ‘I was insistent that the script not leak onto the internet, where it gets dissected out of context, which spoils it for everyone.”

“I’m using the giant James Bond 007 stage at Pinewood and six other sound stages to film it,” Scott continued.

Oh, and the director also says that this isn’t an ALIEN prequel, despite everything we’ve heard. Make of that what you will… PROMETHEUS comes out in June 2012.
