Cate Blanchett in talks to star in Thor: Ragnarok

Just this morning Cate Blanchett found herself nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in CAROL, and now it seems as though she may be heading to Asgard before too long as well. Variety reports that Cate Blanchett is currently in early talks to join THOR: RAGNAROK alongside Chris Hemsworth, but at the moment there's no indication as to which character the actress is in talks for.

Several months ago Birth.Movies.Death speculated that THOR: RAGNAROK would introduce The Enchantress, a super-villain counted among Thor's greatest enemies. They also said that "Marvel thinks [that] they're going to cast some great women in this movie," which you can surely count Cate Blanchett among. BMD also said that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) may run into the Valkyries in THOR: RAGNAROK, which leaves a few other possibilities for Blanchett. In addition to Hemsworth, THOR: RAGNAROK will see the return of Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), as well as feature Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) teaming up with Thor in what Ruffalo has described as a "buddy picture."

Which Asgardian character do you think Cate Blanchett would be the best fit for?

THOR: RAGNAROK is set for a November 3, 2017 release and CAROL, for which Cate Blanchett was just nominated, hit theaters on November 20, 2015. You can read a review of CAROL from our own Eric Walkuski right here!
