Chad Michael Murray and Enver Gjokaj join Hayley Atwell in Agent Carter

With Hayley Atwell already locked in to star in ABC’s eight episode first season of AGENT CARTER, it is time to cast her supporting players. Rumors have swirled that CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER co-star Dominic Cooper may reprise his role as Howard Stark, but Peggy Carter‘s fellow SSR agents need to be chosen as well. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have been developing scripts and needed to fill the roles of two primary agents.

ONE TREE HILL and SOUTHLAND star Chad Michael Murray will join as SSR Agent Jack Thompson while former DOLLHOUSE star Enver Gjokaj will play Agent Daniel Sousa. No other casting has been announced yet.

Agent Carter picks up in 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.

AGENT CARTER will premiere during AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.’s winter hiatus and give viewers an uninteruppted nine months of Marvel small screen programming. If you weren’t sold on AGENT CARTER, also know that CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER directors Joe and Anthony Russo will be directing the second and third episodes of the debut season. The Marvel One-Shot that inspired AGENT CARTER has shown there is definitely some room for intriguing stories in the retro era of the Marvel Universe. Here’s hoping we get some more solid casting news for the show soon.
