Charlie’s Angels are back in action in new photos from the upcoming film

Charlie's Angels will soon be back. The upcoming feature-film from director and co-writer Elizabeth Banks stars Kristen Stewart as Sabina Wilson, the hard-partying, highly skilled wild card; Ella Balinska as Jane Kano, the ex-MI6 muscle of the group; and Naomi Scott as Elena Houghlin, an MIT-trained scientist who serves as the "heart of the movie." While the CHARLIE'S ANGELS film has been billed as a reboot, Elizabeth Banks told Entertainment Weekly that she sees it as a "continuation" which incorporates the events of the original TV series as well as McG's two films.

"If you were rich in 1976, you only got richer," Banks told EW with a laugh. "Charles Townsend is richer than ever, so he’s grown the business into a global spy agency." When Charlie calls, the Angels frequently find themselves traveling the globe, but Elizabeth Banks focused much of her attention on featuring the teamwork of the three women. "It was important to me to make a movie about women working together and supporting each other, and not make a movie about their romantic entanglements or their mother they don’t call enough," Banks said. "When I’m at work, I don’t talk about those things. I get on with my job. It felt important to do that for the Angels, to treat them with the respect their skill set demands." Entertainment Weekly also released a handful of new pictures from the film. Check them out below!

There have been multiple actors who have played multiple characters by the name of Bosley throughout the CHARLIE'S ANGELS franchise, the Elizabeth Banks' film will be no exception. In addition to directing, Banks will also be playing Bosley, and so will Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou, with the name being more of a title. "'Bosley' is now a rank in the organization, like lieutenants," Banks said. "All of the Angels have been played by different women and have had different names, but the Bosley character was always named Bosley no matter who played him. We thought, 'Well, that must mean it’s more than a name.'"

CHARLIE'S ANGELS will naturally find the Angels going undercover, and the photo above shows Sabina (Stewart) suiting up at a Turkish derby while the trio tail a target. Elizabeth Banks said that unlike the more over-the-top action sequences of the previous films, they'll be taking a more grounded approach to stunts. "I wanted to make them distinct from superheroes, aliens, and mythological creatures that are in a lot of action movies now," Banks said.

Naomi Scott (POWER RANGERS) as Elena, who Elizabeth Banks said plays a pivotal role in catalyzing the central mission.

Although John Forsythe, the voice of the unseen Charles Townsend throughout the '70s series and the 2000s films, has passed away, Elizabeth Banks said that Charlie's voice in the new film should sound very familiar to you. "We tried to emulate John Forsythe’s voice as best as we could. We want a real sense of continuity in the movie."

CHARLIE'S ANGELS will hit theaters on November 15, 2019.
