Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton get into why they loved the physical challenge of their new film, Apex

Charlize Theron has really started to develop a great working relationship with Netflix. From The Old Guard movies to The School for Good and Evil and even an executive producer role on the Murder Mystery films, it’s clear she enjoys working with the streamer. And with Taron Egerton starring in the successful Carry On for Netflix, it’s no surprise to see the two actors teaming up for Apex. This action film pushes both to their physical limits and they have a very intriguing dynamic together. You can check out my review of the film HERE.

Charlize gets into the physical aspect of the role and how much she took to climbing, even stating she’s been continuing with it long after filming has wrapped. It was also great to hear how Taron enjoyed playing a villain after so many years of playing heroic figures. You can definitely tell how much he enjoys it in the film itself, and I hope we get to see him explore more villainous work in the future. I think the most interesting aspect of our discussion was Charlize getting into a pivotal scene in the movie and how much focus there was on getting it perfectly right. You’ll have to check out the full video above to find out which scene that may be!

Apex plot:

A grieving woman testing her limits in the Australian wilderness is suddenly ensnared in a deadly game with a ruthless predator.

Apex is streaming on Netflix on April 24th, 2026.
