Charlize Theron is a hard-hitting badass in Atomic Blonde fight featurette

As ATOMIC BLONDE will be coming to us from David Leitch, co-director of JOHN WICK, it's only natural to expect that he'll be bringing a little of that sweetly choreographed action along with him. Charlize Theron stars as Lorraine Broughton in ATOMIC BLONDE, a top-level spy for MI6 who is equal parts spycraft, sensuality, and savagery; she also happens to be particularly adept at breaking faces and kicking ass. A new featurette for the upcoming flick has been released which focuses on fight choreography as well as the impressive training which Charlize Theron underwent.

In a feature interview with Variety, Charlize Theron said that she trained for four hours a day during the two and a half months before production began on ATOMIC BLONDE. "I’m coordinated because I was a dancer, and I definitely have movement memory, but I’ve never been a fighter," Theron said. "I’m also really tall and a girl. That tends to make you look like you’re Big Bird." As mentioned in the featurette, Theron wanted to make every hit count and not skip over the blood, swelling, and bruises which follow. "A lot of times studios or producers are not comfortable with seeing a woman with bruises. We really wanted to pay attention to that authenticity." ATOMIC BLONDE also stars James McAvoy, John Goodman, Sofia Boutella, and Toby Jones

The official synopsis for ATOMIC BLONDE:

The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission.  Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.

ATOMIC BLONDE will hit theaters on July 28th.
