Time for another Stephen King work to get the big screen treatment. It’s always interesting to see where along the spectrum of success to embarassment these projects fall, but I think the story sounds very promising.
It’s called 1408 and was featured in the short story anthology EVERYTHING’S EVENTUAL. The story revolves around a man specializing in debunking paranormal occurrences who meets his match when he checks into the notorious room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. There, he encounters true terror.
I like the concept and it sounds very filmable. Added to that is the fact that the script from Matt Greenberg is being rewritten by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (ED WOOD, THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT), so you know the writing should work.
More on this as we get it. And let me say good luck to helmer Mikael Hafstrom on the project. Now go talk to your bookie and see if you can get a sweet line on a successful King adaptation!
