Not sure about y’all, but every time we get a new look at Nimrod Antal’s PREDATORS, my interest in seeing the damn thing shoots up faster than Nic Cage as Bad Lieutenant. Today’s no different, as the Bloody-D squad unearthed a sweet promo image from the flick that harkens back to the original in a way we can all agree kicks ass. Remember those multicolored heat vision POV shots from the original dreadlocked beasty? You bet your ass you do! If you don’t, no worries…we’ve got a new example of such underneath!
Clearly setting its sights on Adrien Brody’s “Royce” and Alice Braga’s “Isabelle” – what I like about the promo quad is the low-fi look it uses to recapture the magic of the original. Here’s an ad that, like the look of the film itself frankly, doesn’t seem to be using heavy handed artifice in its visuals. This ain’t 3D, this ain’t full of gimmicks…it’s a bunch of dude’s and one smokin’ Brazilian choppin’ it up in the jungle for real. Damn, I have a good feeling about this flick!
Marauding theatergoers July 9th, PREDATORS was written by first timers Michael Finch and Alex Litvak. The film also stars Larry Fishburne, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Derek Mears (Voorhees, yo), Brian Steel and Carey Jones.
Synopsis: PREDATORS, a bold new chapter in the Predator universe, shot under the creative auspices of Robert Rodriguez, stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who’ve come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet…as prey. With the notable exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold blooded killer – mercanaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members – human “predators” that are now being systematically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.
