Check out the first five minutes of George R.R. Martin’s Nightflyers

Based upon the novella by George R.R. Martin, Syfy's upcoming Nightflyers TV series has been teased by Martin himself as a "haunted house story on a starship. It's Psycho in space." The first five minutes of the Nightflyers premiere has been released which tosses us right into the shit as Dr. Agatha Matheson (Gretchen Mol) finds herself stalked by fellow crewmate Rowan (Angus Sampson). It culminates with a bit of a shocker which certainly goes a long way to getting you hooked, if only so you'll find out what the hell is going on.

Nightflyers follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath have embarked on an expedition towards the edge of the solar system with the hopes of making contact with a mysterious alien life-form. However, as they race towards first contact, terrifying and violent events begin to occur, causing the once tight-knit crew to mistrust each other. It’s not long before their main mission becomes survival. In addition to Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire) and Angus Sampson (Fargo), the series also stars Eoin Macken (The Night Shift) as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala (FAST & FURIOUS 6) as Roy Eris, Sam Strike (EastEnders) as Thale, Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf) as Lommie, Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship) as Melantha Jhirl, and Brían F. O’Byrne (MILLION DOLLAR BABY) as Auggie.

Nightflyers will debut on Syfy this December in the U.S. and on Netflix worldwide.
