Check out the new and explosive character posters for American Assassin

In Michael Cuesta's AMERICAN ASSASSIN, Mitch Rapp (O’Brien), a CIA black ops recruit becomes an unstoppable terrorist killing machine under the instruction of Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Keaton). The pair is then enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Lathan) to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets. Together the three discover a pattern in the violence leading them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent (Negar) to stop a mysterious operative (Kitsch) intent on starting a World War.

Today, JustJared shared a series of character posters from the upcoming action thriller that you'd swear were designed by explosion connoisseur Michael Bay. You can check them out for yourself below:

AMERICAN ASSASSIN is based on the #1 New York Times Bestselling novel of the same name by Vince Flynn. The Mitch Rapp character, as played by Dylan O'Brien (TEEN WOLF), is featured throughout several volumes in an on-going series penned by Flynn. Could AMERICAN ASSASSIN be looking to spawn its own series of films should the debut installment do well at the box office? One would think so. I mean, duh, right?

For what it's worth, I think the trailer has this movie looking mighty intense, and hot damn if I'll watch anything Michael Keaton contributes to. But what do you think? Take a gander at the trailer above and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

AMERICAN ASSASSIN will present audiences with a one-man terrorist killing machine on September 15th.
