Proving there is talent swimming in the Olsen gene pool, youngest sibling Elizabeth is culling all kinds of praise for her turn as a schizophrenic dealing with her past in MARCY MARTHA MAY MARLENE. We have two new clips from the film below, one in which Marcy (Liz) meets John Hawkes’ character. Even upon first meet, we can sense something’s amiss.
Haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, a damaged woman (Olsen) struggles to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing an abusive cult.
In the second clip, an early scene I’m guessing, we see the first stages of Martha’s abused psyche. She’s one damaged broad, that’s for sure.
Back to Olsen for a moment. Remember, she also has stars in that indie-horror yarn SILENT HOUSE as well. While that film will likely go unnoticed by most, it seems she has a real chance of award recognition for her work in MARTHA. She then follows up with Rodrigo Cortes’ genre film RED LIGHTS before switching gears and doing comedy-drama with LIBERAL ARTS and VERY GOOD GIRLS. Chick is definitely on the rise!
Sean Durkin wrote and directed the MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, which opens a limited a run in the states October 21st.
