Chicago Fire’s Taylor Kinney set to enter The Forest with Natalie Dormer

It was back in October of last year when we learned that "Game of Thrones" actress Natalie Dormer was set to star in Jason Zada's upcoming supernatural horror tale THE FOREST, which is coming our way via Focus Features and Lava Bear from a script by Sarah Cronwell and Nick Antosca. Now we've learned that "Chicago Fire" star Taylor Kinney will spend his series hiatus starring alongside Dormer in THE FOREST, which is based on an original idea by David Goyer, and incorporates the mythology of Japan’s Aokigahara Forest.

THE FOREST is set to begin shooting in Serbia in May. Here's what we know about the film:

THE FOREST is a supernatural thriller set in the legendary Aokigahara forest at the base of Mt. Fuji. Against this incredible backdrop, a young American woman goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders the forest.

We originally heard that Focus Features acquired North American distribution rights to the film and has scheduled a wide release on January 8, 2016. We're not sure if that release date still stands, but we'll keep you updated as we learn more about THE FOREST.
