Children lacks gore

When it was announced that CHILDREN OF THE CORN was up for a remake, I wasn’t too upset. Sure, Linda Hamilton is awesome, but let’s face it, the original flick from 1984 isn’t very good, though the potential is there for it to rock.

The remake is currently filming as a SciFi Channel Original Movie, so least to say it may not actually be better than the original, but the different take may be refreshing. In the Hamilton role is Kandyse McClure, who recently sat down with SciFi Wire to chat about the remake, and what she has to say may disappoint you. Here’s a taste:

I don’t actually think it’s going to be that violent, in terms of what you actually see happening, kind of graphic violence. I think we’re trying for the psychological thriller, for the implied violence. It is pretty gory. I have to say there’s a lot of blood. There’s definitely a lot of blood. But the stuff with the kids is really what creeps me out. It creeped me out watching it on set, and I imagine after they’ve rendered and doctored it and put the music in that it’ll be even more disturbing. But there is a lot of gore.

Wait, so now I’m confused. It’s not that violent and they’re going for the psychological horror angle with the creepy-ass kids, but then it’s pretty gory and will have a lot of blood? Seriously? What the shit does that mean? Will it be violent and bloody or not??? Yeesh!

As it’s made for TV, I’m guessing it won’t be all that gorey, but it will eventually make it to DVD, which they’ll be able to include all that juicy red stuff back in again, so who really knows. Obviously McClure doesn’t really know either.
