It's time to gather round the pentagram, lose your inhibitions, and embrace the Lords of Dance, because Netflix has summoned a quirky music video ahead of the January 24 premiere of CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA PART 3.
By now I would think that you're all aware of the show's dark and sinister tone, though today's groovy, new offering is here to let you know that Chilling Adventures isn't afraid to get jiggy while highlighting some of the series' more humorous aspects. Packed with plenty of new footage from the upcoming season, today's "Straight to Hell" music video finds the show's central character shaking her money-maker for the forces of darkness, all while singing about the ways in which the show is just as adept at eliciting laughs as it does scares and steamy scenes of tween romance.
Part Three finds Sabrina reeling from the harrowing events of Part Two. Though she defeated her father Lucifer, the Dark Lord remains trapped within the human prison of her beloved boyfriend, Nicholas Scratch. Sabrina can’t live with herself, knowing that Nick made the ultimate sacrifice and is suffering, burning in Hell under Madam Satan’s watchful eye.
So with an assist from her mortal friends, “The Fright Club” (consisting of Harvey, Rosalind, and Theo), Sabrina makes it her mission to free him from eternal damnation and bring him back into her arms. However, the Dark Lord’s unseating has sent shockwaves through the realms—and, with no one on the throne, Sabrina must assume the title of “Queen” to defend it against a challenger, the handsome Prince of Hell Caliban.
Meanwhile, in Greendale, a mysterious carnival rolls into town, bringing with it a threat to the Spellmans and the coven: A tribe of pagans looking to resurrect an ancient evil…
In addition to Kiernan Shipka, who stars as Sabrina Spellman and sings today's original song, the show also stars Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Gavin Leatherwood, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Michelle Gomez, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Skye Marshall, Sam Corlett, Jonathan Whitesell, Abigail Cowen, and Lachlan Watson.
I make no bones about being a major fan of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA. The series is far darker than many would suspect, and oh yeah, it's got spice for days! The show is also incredibly atmospheric, and features lots of eerie practical effects and wicked costuming. I highly recommend the show to anyone who has read Sacasa's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic book series, or those who delight in seeing a slightly silly and ofttimes scandalous take on the occult.
CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA PART 3 will be summoned onto Netflix beginning on January 24th.
