Hard as it is to believe, we’ve yet to see the definitive Bigfoot movie. No, HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS doesn’t cut it. For such an enticing myth, it sure has been difficult to get the beast’s story properly told, although lord knows there have been numerous attempts.
Maybe it’s time China took a crack at the old Sasquatch. According to 24FPS (who got their scoop from this Chinese site), producers are planning an “Avatar-like” epic about Bigfoot, to be shot in 3D. Where the AVATAR part comes in is a mystery. (Maybe he’ll be realized via motion-capture?)
The film, titled PRIMARY ZONE will follow a group of scientists searching the remote mountains in Hubei Province for the mythical beast.
The budget for PRIMARY ZONE is reportedly hovering in the area of 100 million yuan (or approx. 15 million U.S. dollars). No word on when it will begin production, but hopefully things get rolling soon, because I’m certainly curious to see what they’ve got up their sleeve…
