Jason, Jason, Jason… Have you no shame?This is the latest acting move Jason Lee thought would help his career: ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS. Yep, starring alongside three CG rodents. I’m assuming they’re rodents, I really can’t bring myself to check it out. I don’t want to be that guy at the party that knows the answer when someone asks ‘what order of mammal are Alvin, Simon and Theodore?’ Like I’m sure you guys did, I watched this cartoon all the time when I was a kid. But unlike Batman, Transformers and TMNT, I do not want to see this as a live action movie. I certainly do not want to see Jason Lee befowl himself to play the lead role. First UNDERDOG, now this? He needs to get Kevin Smith on the phone asap. CHIPMUNKS is directed by Tim Hill (GARFIELD 2). Argh… click HERE if you want to see this thing up close. MY NAME IS EARL has been very successful, hasn’t it? I don’t know if it’s worse to think Lee took this project because he needed or the money or because he thought it was a good idea. Still, I hope he gives us a little bit of that MALLRATS magic, Mr. Hill gives a little bit of something that wasn’t even close to existing in GARFIELD 2, and the two make a great film. Plus Alvin’s cool, right? This is what we call ‘clutching at straws’.
