Chloe Moretz signs on for adaptation of goth comic Emily the Strange

Chloe Moretz is really getting around, isn’t she? The young actress hasn’t even hit puberty yet and it seems like she’s more in-demand than any other actress out there! Everytime Moretz pops up in a flick it seems like she does nothing but impress her audience. She’s gearing up to tear apart the screen in next month’s LET ME IN and here I am today to tell you all about another genre project the young woman has signed on for!

According to The Hollywood Reporter the actress has just lined up her next roll: Starring in the big-screen adaptation of dark children’s comic EMILY THE STRANGE! Why does this feel like it’s perfect for Moretz? Probably because at this point it seems like the little lady can do just about anything! Want the details on this little diddy? Of course you do! We actually told you about this project way back in May 2008. … May 2008! That’s well over two years ago! So what’s the deal yo?! Well Universal are finally moving forward on the project, which is based on the character created by skateboarder Rob Reger. What started as a cartoon made for stickers, t-shirts and skateboards quickly spiraled into a multi-media character that has swept the nation! Alright… maybe I’m being a little over-dramatic but apparently EMILY THE STRANGE did take off… Hence a big-screen adaptation of the little goth lady! So what’s the rundown on EMILY THE STRANGE?

The story line is being kept under wraps, although the aim is to tell the origin of the punk and gothic figure and her four cats: troublemaker Sabbath, schemer Nee-Chee, imaginative Miles and leader Mystery.

Well that’s all fine and dandy. Here’s hoping this thing turns out pretty dark and twisted… And with Moretz’s involvement I’m pretty sure that will indeed be the case. For now all we can do is hope… No other crew for the film has been announced but as soon as we hear more on EMILY THE STRANGE we’ll be sure to pass it along to all of you!
