Cho returns call

After THE GRUDGE 2‘s performance at the box office, the remake of ONE MISSED CALL is perhaps the next film to suffer backlash from fans tired of American remakes of Japanese horror flicks, even with the addition of comedienne-turned-actress Margaret Cho.

Cho recently told Sci Fi Wire that she recently completed work on the remake of the 2003 Japanese horror flick, referring to the film as being “in the vein of THE GRUDGE. It’s a really quiet, really sort of scary, very thoughtful and intelligent horror film, which is kind of what’s happening a lot in horror nowadays.” Cho joins Ed Burns as another member of the police department. Cho’s character is a cynical policewoman who doesn’t believe that the friends of a local college student (played by Shannyn Sossamon) are getting voice mails from their future selves in the process of dying, leaving them a couple of days to save themselves from their fate.

Cho is currently out promoting her upcoming project on the Sci Fi Channel, the original miniseries ‘The Lost Room’.
