Chris Pratt and Anna Faris to team up for comedy Vacation Friends

Fox has acquired the spec script VACATION FRIENDS for stars Chris Pratt and Anna Faris to star and for HOT TUB TIME MACHINE director Steve Pink to helm. The script, by siblings Tom Mullen & Kim Mullen, has Pratt and Faris playing "a straight laced couple on vacation in Mexico. They have a great time with a wild couple they befriend. When the straight laced duo gets back to their normal lives, the wild vacation couple materializes, hoping to rekindle the fun. Their antics don’t seem nearly as fun in the real world and they won’t go away.  It’s like What About Bob? with a couple."

Pratt and Faris (who are married offscreen) have paired together in smaller parts before, both in Faris' romcom WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER? and a small award winner known as MOVIE 43, but have never starred in a film together. Pratt, who stars on NBC's Parks and Recreation, is slated to blow up this summer after Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY hits theaters and follows that debut with the lead in Colin Trevorrow's JURASSIC WORLD. Faris, meanwhile, is currently starring in the sitcom, Mom, with Allison Janney.

I think this is a great match-up, personally. Pratt is hysterical on Parks and Recreation (just in general, really) and Faris is every bit his equal in their comedic stylings. Faris may not have gotten the traction expected after the hit THE HOUSE BUNNY, but she's an underrated and underutilized actress, especially in the comedy department (see SMILEY FACE and JUST FRIENDS). I'm game for this one and I think if they find the duo to star opposite these guys this could be something really cool (and hopefully hilarious).

No word on a release as this is currently in development. More as it develops.
